ineffableshe asked: i find that it's really important to set firm boundaries when working with teens. as a teacher, it's yr place to tell a student if their behavior is unacceptable. teens are actually eager for that guidance. present them with more, challenging work rather than less; this keeps them engaged and prevents them from getting distracted (which leads to derailing). if the class as a whole says f-ed up shit, you can tell them that their behavior isn't ok. ask them to explore the reasons why together.
